Naturally anyone who has been through such a traumatic experience would lose energy and focus, and may become depressed. The student not only has to deal with trauma, but humiliation and judgment from other students. Colleges try to keep sensitive cases confidential but struggle to do so when it comes to students. For instance, if a college frat member was to rape a girl at a party, unfortunately his “brothers” would make the woman seem like a liar and/or an attention seeker.
