communities all over Chicago. Probably one of the neighborhoods you saw that looked quite different from others even though their in the same city is Chicago Lawn. This neighborhood is filled with many teens given that it's a few schools in the district. It's more than likely known from Marquette park which is the central point of Chicago Lawn bringing together many different people, cultures, and activities. What makes these neighborhoods similar is their ability to bring people from different backgrounds and cultures together, despite the fact that they have different socio-economic state and different visual aspect. When you first enter the downtown neighborhood you will instantly know because you would see the the high rising buildings through the train tracks. Your eyes would be hit with the sound of cars beeping, trains saying doors closing, and people voices. Your nose will be taken on an adventure taking in the smell of coffee from the many Starbucks to the smell of steak, lettuce, and bread from the Chipotle around every corner. To your right and left many people will be scrambling trying to hurry to their destination,it gets real crowded especially in the morning and evening. The trend of apparel you will notice is suits with mostly black or brown dress shoes or skirts suit jackets with heels. The style Downtown is usually professional and formal. If you are ever feeling generous and want to do a good deed it will not be hard to find due to the many homeless people begging for food and/or money on almost every street. The reason why socio-economic state is so high Downtown is because of the many business in the chicago loop (Downtown),there's nothing but major businesses and popular stores in that area. The people that work Downtown in those buildings includes many of the 352,824 people in Chicago with a bachelor's degree. And the reason why the average income for a household is 74,569$. This explains why downtown produces so much money and why people working there has a substantial amount of money. There are over 105 buildings over 500 ft this explains the high tourist attraction which is why the government gives downtown more money to build more high risers and shopping centers instead of giving it to neighborhoods that need the money more like Chicago Lawn.
The downtown area makes Walking through the neighborhood Chicago lawn you would see many houses and apartments but also abandoned buildings.
Depending on the weather one may see kids playing basketball, football, and soccer. A variety of smells may hit you, smoke from a barbecue grill or a dull package seal smell from the store on the corner. Chicago lawn is never quite no matter what time it is your ears may be filed with sound of some hip hop music from a speaker at a party or from kids screaming and laughing. Due to the Southside violence you may also see the Chicago police patrolling through the neighborhood. Chicago Lawn maybe welcoming like Downtown because of the parks but it sure is not well kept and clean as it. Potato chip papers, pop cans, and candy paper fill the many yards of the Chicago Lawn neighborhood even though you may see a random person or homeless individual picking up the scrapes and cans out the
grass. Growing up as a kid in Chicago Lawn it's rather easy to take a wrong turn onto a path that leads you nowhere but to death or prison. In fact there were 0.5 violent crimes per 1,000 people in near South Side in the past 30 days Near South Side ranks 38th among Chicago's 77 community areas for violent crime reports in this time period according to Chicago Tribune which is why teenagers in this area either drop out or don't go to college. To be exact 15% of the nation high school dropout is from the south side and midwest high schools. This leads to teens being on the street possible committing crimes. This is why Chicago Lawn and Downtown differs because of educational and socio-economic state differences. The reason why Downtown and Chicago Lawn that are all in the same city but look different is because of the socio-economic state producing better jobs and business and education which limits the ability to obtain a job and do something productive with your life. Though downtown and Chicago Lawn are the same as far as bringing different people together it will never be the same as far as visually because of the money going into the neighborhood and education.
