Mothers have always been the role model when it comes to nurturing and child rearing. However, since the last couple of years have seen Fathers play a crucial role in the upbringing of children. Take the example of celebrities like David Beckham, Will Smith and Johnny Depp who have shown deep bonding with their babies and have become role models. Melanie Mallers, professor of Pyschology at the California State University states that, “Fathers play a hugely important role in the mental health of their children much later in life.”
To develop a bond with your baby you can start early from your partners pregnancy days as well. You can read, sing or simply put your hand on the belly and talk to your baby as he or she can hear your voice. This behavior establishes a strong connection with your baby.
Mothers should help the father also to cope up with his new role so that he also feels the stress involved during the child rearing process. Daddy dear can carry the baby in a sling-carrier and go for a nature walk or maybe shopping. Physical closeness naturally helps to bond with a child. Involve in diaper change and night feeds when the mom can take some rest. You can also divide your time and share some responsibilities as that will also

You need not panic that a baby is too fragile to handle and something will happen if they you are not able to hold properly. In such situations, join a group of new daddies and share some experiences. If things get worse attend a program or talk to a child psychologist. Organizations nowadays also provide paternity leaves as they understand the significance of a father during this crucial moment. Parenthood is a new role in your life so make the most of it and enjoy every moment. You will not be able to live such moments again so keep aside the anxiety and fear factors and take charge
