What is Mental Health?
Mental health is the inclusion of emotional, social and psychological wellbeing, it is a realization of full potential of self, absence of any kind of stress and healthy bonding with relationship with friends and family members. Mental health constitutes our action, thought process and give cognition to react accordingly with the situation. Thus WHO defines mental health as “a state of wellbeing in which an individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope up with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make contribution to her or his community?” (World Health Organisation, …show more content…
It is the technique which is used to make families of the mental ill patients to be less dependable on the mental health hospitals or less dependency is being developed on hospital setting with the help of community health care services. Community mental health services is an effective tool which can remove the stigma from the mind of the community people by regular interaction with the patient and in the same way the patient will get the care, affection, social bond which may not have received in hospital setting, thus, safeguarding the person from social isolation (Encyclopedia of Mental Disorders, n.d.). Community mental health services are being provided to those basically those who suffers from severe mental disorders like schizophrenia, bi-polar etc. In order to counter that severity, a special mental health team works with the person with mental disorder in the community which is called “community mental health team.” Community mental health team is a group which helps a person to do with the normal activities of the life without any hitch.
