Paper records are notoriously unhelpful when these situations pop up. When patients are visiting a doctor for the first time or even after a long time from the last visit it is important to provide all the information possible. By keeping a personal health record, patients will not be remembering all of the information that they have off of the top of their heads. Patients will be able to have a printed copy or even a digital copy to provide all of the information they would be asked about. Patients will not have to blindly fill out health record forms and can have a sense of ease every time they go to the doctor whether they are starting fresh with a new doctor or updating information for a primary physician they have not been to in a while.
Patients with a personal health record are able to know everything there is about themselves in the medical world that they keep documented there. Certain personal health records will contain medication lists that let you know the medications that patients are taking.
