Since public education is funded by property taxes within the school district, lower income school district receive less funding and therefore students in those district receive a less quality education. In the supreme court case San Antonio Independent School District vs. Rodriguez the supreme court did not deem this unconstitutional. This disparities mean that people who receive a high school diploma don’t all receive the same level of education. People say that it is unfair that the quality of education you get is determined by your family's background and where you live. Many say that nationalizing educational standards would help make sure that students are all required to learn the same thing and not have students so vastly differently prepared after going through the same amount of education. People also say that we should change the way we fund schools so that everyone has the opportunity to get the same quality regardless of where they live.

Over time as a country the united states has realized that no one should be denied access to education. However the system is still very unequal because the system is doesn’t allow everyone the same quality of education, and many politicians haven’t figured out how to ensure that
