First of all, When a video like What Does The Fox say goes viral, People always got to wonder what kind of sound does it make. Is it Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow? No one really knows. But, "The Fox" by Ylvis can be defined as a viral video. It can be defined with these three characteristics: Viewership, Buzz and parody.
Furthermore, Viewership is the number of views that the video got at the time it was released. According to the webpage on Amazon.com, What does the fox say had gotten more than 200 million views. This quote represents that after the video was released, It got more views than any other video on YouTube or anywhere else. An example of viewership would be watching the news, People who watch the news, …show more content…
the viewership continues to grow and grow everyday.
Finally, Buzz is all the talk that the video got at the time it was released. According to the article from the National Geographic Magazine, "What You Should Say If Dress Like A Fox For Halloween", by Chelsea Huang before the video was released, a couple 100 costumes were sold. After video, sales went up to 350%. Based on this quote, I can
conclude that when before the video was released, a'lot of people were buying fox costumes and when after the video was released, the video and the costumes all became popular.
For example, There was a commercial on TV and they were playing the song. It was also buzzing through the students at Portal Elementary School.
Although, Parody is when someone copies the idea. According to the article in the Huff Post College edit "Ohio University Marching Band covers "The Fox" During Halftime", Ohio University Band Playing song, SNL & Morgan Freeman copying video. This shows us that after the Ohio University played the song, SNL a huge comedy show and Morgan Freeman, a very famous actor came together to make a funnier way of the music video. An example of parody would be watching The Fairly OddParents, they had a store called Dead, Bath & Beyond, which is a parody of Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Overall, Is Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow really what the fox says or is it something else. It can be defined as a viral video because it meets the three characteristics for it to be viral. The Fox had gotten so many views that it practically blew up YouTube. Also, it blew away the airwaves for it to be the most popular video ever after Gangnam Style. At the end, viral videos are awesome, it’s just how many views it gets can be
awesome.
