more opinions other than the facts. It’s a little fact heavy. Plus, try changing the beginning of the sentences more (added a lot of despite). Despite the fact that Hawaii is located in the middle of the ocean this state usually has pretty good weather, the average daytime temperature being about 78 degrees. Did you know that there are only 2 seasons in Hawaii? Summer and Winter. Because of its climate Hawaii is a pretty tropical island. Although its usual cheery weather Hawaii is also prone to cyclones. In fact Hawaii has had several hurricanes. One especially feisty one was a level 4 hurricane called Iniki. Iniki means “strong and piercing wind”. Iniki was the most powerful hurricane to strike Hawaii. It struck on September 5, 1992. 6 people died, 63 got lost, and 1,421 houses were destroyed. A more recent hurricane would be hurricane darby, which struck on July 11, 2016. Hawaii has had its share of bad times like its hurricanes, but its also has had plenty of good times and ha plenty of natural attractions.
One of hawaii’s most famous natural attraction is Volcanoes National Park.
Volcanoes national park is a popular place to visit in Hawaii, which is understandable. If i went to Hawaii I would definitely visit this place. One pretty well known volcano in volcanoes national park is the Mauna Loa. The Mauna Loa which means “long mountain” in Hawaiian. Towering at about 13,680 ft, this huge dome surely lives up its name. There are disputes on how many times the Mauna Loa has erupted. Some say 33 and some say 39 times. Its last eruption so far was in 1984 and it has been approximately 30 years since it last erupted. Another volcano in volcanoes national park is the Kilauea. Kilauea is the youngest volcano on big island. Kilauea is rather short compared to Mauna Loa, being only 4,091 ft. tall. Kilauea is also one of the most active volcanoes and has erupted about 63 times! Another attraction in this land of natural wonders is the diamond head. The diamond head is a volcanic tuff cone. Tuff cone volcanoes are rare. They have steep sides and look like a crater except for the fact that they are above
ground. As if all it already has isn’t enough, Hawaii also has beautiful waterfalls. One is the Olo'upena falls. Olo'upena is 2,953 ft. tall, and one of the tallest falls in Hawaii! Another is the Hiilawe. Hiilawe falls isn’t as tall as the Olo'upena, but is still a pretty impressive at 1,450 ft. This are just a few highlights out of hawaii’s lavish supply of natural wonders.
Hawaii has unique land as it was formed differently than all the other states. Hawaii was formed out of volcanic eruptions. Hawaii was formed because of the Hawaiian hot spot. The ho spot is under the big island at the moment. A volcanic hot spot is an area in the mantle, place between the earth’s core and crust, from where heat rises. Because of the high heat and low pressure, magma rises through cracks and forms volcanoes. Millions of years ago there was no big island. There was only the volcano Kohala. But when the Kohala erupted and its lava mixed with the seawater land formed. The big island is basically volcanic rock! Know there are four other volcanoes on big island. Mauna Loa, Hualalai, Mauna kea, and the Kilauea. Hawaii has much more than just big island though. It has 8 major and 124 minor islands. The 8 major islands are Hawaii (or big island), Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Niihau, Kahoolawe. Each island has it’s own share of volcanoes and its own unique geography. Hawaii get’s millions visitors each year and now I can see why. Hawaii not only has lot’s of tourist attractions but also a rich and interesting geography!
