Essay On Health Belief Model
The paper will use Health Belief Model to explain the situation or behaviors of cancer patients. Health Belief Model is a psychological model, it uses to explain and predict an individual’s health behaviors through understanding one’s attitude and beliefs towards health. The model was composed by three main assumptions. First, if he/she think that himself/herself can avoid the negative health condition. Second, if the person has a positive attitude towards taking an advised action can avoid the negative condition. Third, if the person was confident that he/she can execute the advised action successfully. There are total 6 components in the model, traditionally there are four perceived kinds of components, included Perceived Susceptibility, …show more content…
The meaning of Perceived Severity not only include one’s sense of the seriousness of the condition’s influence and risk but also the impact on their daily life after the treatment. Such as the pain during the treatment, losing their job and relationship between them and family or society. The person will try to act to change the situation when they discover with perceived susceptibility and perceived severity because it will increase the perceived threat of its own which lead to an increase of urgency and crisis sense of itself. The prediction on whether the person can reduce the seriousness and risk level of the disease after acting is call as perceived benefits, such as reduce the pain and impact from the disease. And people only act when they think their act will be effective and able to practice. Perceived barriers are one’s recognition of the difficulties that they may face when they practice the recommended action, such as the fee and pain of medical treatment and residual effect of the treatment. Having enough knowledge on difficulties can result from long-lasting durability and stability of the action.
