Employment of Social and Human Service Assistants is projected to grow eleven percent from 2014 to 2024, there have been 386.600 jobs accepted in 2014(bureau of labor statistics.gov). Growth is due to a growing elderly population and rising demands for healthcare and social services. In addition, growth is expected as more people seek treatment for their addictions and more drug offenders are sent to treatment programs rather than to jail. These phenomena should increase demand for social and human service assistants who work in treatment programs or work with people with addictions(bureau of labor statistics.gov).
This job consists of some requirements.
In order to get this job, a bachelor’s degree or three to five jobs related to this is needed. A person needs to have compassion, interpersonal skills,and problem solving skills, in order to get this career. There is no specific gender/ age restrictions in this career. For this job there will be a six month training process, because such workers often are dealing with multiple clients from a wide variety of backgrounds. A person working in this career could learn more about their lives. They can also learn to cherish their family more with this career. The hardest part of this career is finding children without families because they are lonely and need a happy home. A person can work at this career for however long they want to until they retire or they pass.
The median hourly wage for social and human service assistants was $14.32 in May 2014(careerinfonet.org). The lowest 10 percent earned less than $9.55, and the highest ten percent earned more than $22.85(bureau of labor statistics.gov) . In this career purchasing anything wouldn't be necessary. There is no deduction from the salary in this career. If people choose to move up there would be a higher salary plus more clients. Moving up requires a master’s degree in social working, also additional training.
Social and Human Services Assistant don't stay in one spot.
They may work in clinics, hospitals, group homes, and shelters, others travel around the community to see clients (bureau of labor statistics). They help over twenty eight percent of families, twenty percent of local government, and eight percent of religious, civic, and similar organizations. There are Social and Human Services Assistant all across the world that are helping families and/or individuals with thing they can't figure out on their own. They help with children, elderly, people with disabilities, addiction, mental illnesses, and veterans (bureau of labor statistics). These people are not to scare people but to help them get over what they did in the past or maybe even the
present.
This career is great because people get to help daily with people that don’t necessarily have a perfect life, but then again nobody has a perfect life. I plan to be great at this career in the future and try and make good in the world. As long as there’s a difference in the world by something a social worker did, it will all good in the world, besides the fact that there still is global warming and animals going extinct. In conclusion, this career is very well populated according to the 386.600 jobs that were accepted in 2014, and there are many people that need help and that's in fact what Social and Human Services Assistant do.
