Food shortages not only allow the body to be underprivileged of energy, but also makes human beings face being malnourished. Malnourishment leads to poor health. People who face hunger are more likely to experience headaches, stomachaches, colds, ear infections and fatigue. People who are malnourished also get sick more often than an individual who is nourished, they recover from illnesses more slowly and happen to be hospitalized more frequently (Coleman 5). The general argument made by Coleman in her work “Reality of calorie intake” argues that 72 percent of the population in America over consumes calorie intake meanwhile 14 percent of the population consumes very little to no calorie intake. Coleman proceeds to explain that the 14 percent consumes very little to no calories, because they encounter food shortages. Coleman uses her bachelor of science in dietetics, “Dietary guidelines” by “Dietary guidelines for Americans” and the American census as supporting evidence. This point is a well-made point, because she uses prior knowledge, a dietary guideline and the United States census to establish the points that calorie intake should be based
