John Proctor clearly fits the definition of a tragic hero, for many reasons. A tragic hero is a man of high position and John proves to be a man in high position in page 20 in the second paragraph, which states “Proctor, respected and even feared in Salem,”. That line proves that he is respected and feared by some of the people in Salem.
