In the story “The Love of my Life”, written by T. Coraghessan Boyle, is about a young teenage couple who were in college who decided to have a baby. Throughout the story, one major problem aroused. Once the baby was delivered, the boyfriend decided to kill the infant baby. One famous psychiatrist Phillip Resnick came to the conclusion that Neonaticide is wrong and is the killing of a newborn within the first twenty-four hours of its life. Neonaticide is not a new occurring issue by any way in your mind. Throughout history Neonaticide has evolved into many different time periods as well as societies. One major practice that is seen today is partial birth abortion. The partial birth abortion is a procedure in which the abortionist pulls a living baby feet-first out of the womb and into the birth canal, except for the head. From here the abortionist uses a utensil that penetrates the infant's skull to suck up the infant’s brains. So in a way, this whole process is murder. This argument doesn’t last anymore due to the fact that it was banned in the United States in 2003. It was only acceptable and necessary only if it was used to save the mother’s life at hand. This whole practice is still present today, so why is this so called “Neonaticide” still believed to be a crime? A partial birth abortion is completed by a medical professional and the infant is terminated in the ultimate humane way available. It can be compared to the way abortions are legal now in the United States, and how abortions that are present out of the medical field are presumably illegal. No matter if people disagree or agree with this problem and issue, people can not compare two issues that are completely different. Neonaticide is absolutely illegal and should be considered
