Essay On Running For Vice President
Good afternoon,

I know that many of you are looking at me saying, “Why is a sophomore running for anything let alone vice president.” My name in Daniel Sutton. I understand that i am younger than you and your concern makes sense. Please do not ignore me because of this or the fact that we don't know each other quite yet but allow me to comfort you with why voting Daniel Sutton for vice president is indeed a good idea. I have served in this capacity of higher in many other groups and committees in my day.

First, when i was in the sixth grade i served as vice president over the 6th 7th and 8th graders. A young leader then i stepped up to the plate creating many fundraisers to make events more affordable and school function (ie assemblies, test pep rally) enjoyable to all. Many of my

As a section leader i have some authority but i sit under the drum majors whom you see conducting at football games and must work with the other section leaders. I understand my place and do not cross the line. This is important for someone running for vice president to realize.

Through all of these experiences i have learned something that very few have accomplished--how to interchangeably be a leader as well as a follower. A teacher as well as a student. With this skill i will lead when necessary and recognize the president whomever they are. I will not take over or try to do things without the president's permission. I will work alongside the president by being the best help to and for him or her.

According to John Quincy Adams, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” If voted for, I can and will make it my goal as the vice president to be the most inspiring person for this council to be the best that it has ever been through the leading of our president and his or her right hand man yours truly in the person of Daniel Sutton. Thank you for your attention and your

In his book Minority Victory: Gilded Age Politics and the Front Porch Campaign of 1888, Charles W. Calhoun argues that the beginning of modern presidency and campaigning began in 1888 between Grover Cleveland and Benjamin Harrison. He illustrates his points by describing how Cleveland and Harrison’s individual personalities and actions play into the transformation. He also discusses the economic issues that hindered and helped the candidates during their campaigning period and also what made Harrison’s campaign different from previous nineteenth-century Gilded Age presidential politics.…

“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” Ronald Reagan’s words provide me with a vision and the motivation to serve others by equipping them with the tools needed to reach their full potential. I have always worked hard as a leader to inspire others. I understand that I must be bold enough to have my own vision but humble enough to recognize achieving it will take the efforts of many people. I believe that we must work to together to keep America strong and ensure freedom for future generations, and I believe this is done through great leaders. Many leaders in the administrations started off in not so fabulous ways and if you asked their supervisors early on in their careers I bet most would have said they are not going to make it a year before they have been gobbled up and spit out. Through many trials and tribulations these individuals slowly began to rise above the average ranks. Even as basic emergency medical technicians certain characteristics of a leader began to slowly show through and were developed by an attentive supervisory member of their service. Some of those characteristics include being a good listener, able to clearly communicate with others, empathetic to others, supportive and inspiring others in positions both above and below their current…

Fund raising is a big part of the first three years of being class president; it feels like it never ends. As a freshman, we did a lot of food fundraisers; Zap-A-Snack, lollipops, and candy grams. I delivered the candy grams in a Santa suit, and the officers dressed up as elves and reindeer. Sophomore year we sold chocolate, candy grams, catalog items, and a few other things. Junior year was the hardest year of all, because of Prom! That year we set up Powder Puff, and the seniors were nice enough to let us keep all the money, and considering we did all the work, it was the right thing to do. Also, we sold lots of different boxes of chocolates, and once again sold Zap-A-Snack, and a few other items.…

The text, Writing and Reading Across the Curriculum in the chapter Obedience to Authority: The Follower Problem, states “Legitimate power is built on a series of paradoxes: that leaders have to wield power while knowing they are corrupted by it; that great leaders are superior to their followers while also being of them; that the higher they rise, the more they feel like instruments in larger designs” (650). Power should be used to build up and bring people together instead of being one big puppet show. Dwight D. Eisenhower conveyed this guidance to us in his memoir, At Ease: “Always try to associate yourself with and learn as much as you can from those who know more than you do, who do better than you, who see more clearly than you.” Ike slowly mastered the art of leadership by becoming a superb apprentice. To have good leaders you have to have good followers— able to recognize just authority, admire it, be grateful for it and emulate it. Those skills are required for good monument building, too.…

Are you an aspiring leader? Do you want to be a part of it? Are you willing to be a role model? Good communicator? And be a servant leader? This essay is all about Leadership. According to Wikipedia and dictionary, Leadership is defined as a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task. The purpose of this essay is to explain further that, Leadership is an action and not a position. This explanation wants to show, you want to be a leader because you want to give service and not because you want everyone to know that you have a position. You give service, because you want to influence and inspire people. As the quote says, “Great leaders tell stories to inspire their employees.” Being a leader is not an easy job. You have to dedicate yourself and show your willingness in serving people. There’s a joke about leadership, “When the leader is away, the opponent will play.” I became a leader. I had an experience related to this joke. I was out of town to attend a seminar in Cebu with my fellow leaders. I left my plans to my friend, who used to be my opponent, and told them to present it to the head. Surprisingly, when I came back, the head called my attention because no plans were presented. My heart was scattered into pieces, knowing that my plans were sabotage. I thought this experience would hinder me in giving service. Truly, in giving service, a lot of obstacles will try to pull you down.…

When I was in third grade I remember my teacher, Mrs. Cindy telling us that by the end of the week she would be choosing someone to be a line leader. I was extremely excited, to me being a leader would be such an honor, and just the word itself sparked a sense of want and all the pleasant words I had then associated with “leader” floated around in my mind like courage, integrity, passion and sincerity. I wanted to be a leader. At that time I had no specific reason as to why; I had just been taught that being a leader was a good thing, not just by my parents but also through socialization and society. However now my mindset is not that of a third grader and words have completely changed their meaning, like leader, I do not want to be a leader anymore. There seems to be more leaders out there with bad intentions than pure ones and each leader we have had and currently have, fall into one of the following categories. There are leaders only in it for profit, for the glory and power, and then finally, to guide people in a right path.…

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I am honored to be here. Today I’d like to share with you some thoughts I have on leadership for service and virtue in action. If there’s one thing that 30 years in government service and 10 years in the private sector has taught me, it’s that leadership is for service and that virtues are for action, for the greatest leaders I have been privileged to work with have been those who had the humility to be of service to others.…
