Leadership
“Leader: A person of Strong Character and integrity”
Thesis Statement: Leadership is an action and not a position

Are you an aspiring leader? Do you want to be a part of it? Are you willing to be a role model? Good communicator? And be a servant leader? This essay is all about Leadership. According to Wikipedia and dictionary, Leadership is defined as a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task. The purpose of this essay is to explain further that, Leadership is an action and not a position. This explanation wants to show, you want to be a leader because you want to give service and not because you want everyone to know that you have a position. You give service, because you want to influence and inspire people. As the quote says, “Great leaders tell stories to inspire their employees.” Being a leader is not an easy job. You have to dedicate yourself and show your willingness in serving people. There’s a joke about leadership, “When the leader is away, the opponent will play.” I became a leader. I had an experience related to this joke. I was out of town to attend a seminar in Cebu with my fellow leaders. I left my plans to my friend, who used to be my opponent, and told them to present it to the head. Surprisingly, when I came back, the head called my attention because no plans were presented. My heart was scattered into pieces, knowing that my plans were sabotage. I thought this experience would hinder me in giving service. Truly, in giving service, a lot of obstacles will try to pull you down. In a world of leadership, there are two kinds of people; leaders and followers. I’ve read a lot of essays about leadership. According to them, “followers are the people that never take a leadership role in any activity, while leaders are the ones that use their leadership skills to make a difference in this world”. It was also mentioned, “Leadership is not something you can learn

Leadership is a quality a lot of people wish to have. It holds a great amount of power and when somebody obtains that power, it can be a big responsibility. Not always does this power and leadership fall into the right hands, but when it does, it can be an amazing thing. Leadership is the capability to influence a person or a group to achieve many goals (Robbins, 2005). To elaborate, leadership is a complex process by which a person influences others to accomplish a mission, task, or objectives and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent by applying their leadership attributes such as values, ethics, knowledge, skills, and belief (Clark, 2000). Most importantly, not all leaders happen to be managers, and not all managers are leaders (Robbins, 2005). Even though one is positioned as a manager or a supervisor (he has the power to accomplish certain tasks within the organization) it does not necessarily mean he is a leader unless he makes people…

Developing future nurse leaders is one of the greatest challenges faced by the nursing profession (Mahoney, 2001). Powerful leadership skills are needed by all nurses—those providing direct care to those in top management positions. Anyone who is looked to as an authority (e.g., a nurse taking care of a patient) or who is responsible for giving assistance to others is considered a leader (Mahoney, 2001).…

Leaders have to have a servant’s heart. Without that quality then as a leader one will not be successful. In order to be a servant leader one has to be willing to help others at all times, but they also have to help others out of love. Without love it is impossible to be a servant leader. Servant leadership is one of those things where one does not necessarily know why they are serving others, but it comes natural and their heart tells them to serve. It is important to be a servant first and a leader second. Servants put others before themselves. They are constantly helping others to improve. The reward of being a servant leader is seeing the one being served grow as individuals and become servant leaders themselves. Servant leaders have big responsibilities to their followers and society as a whole. Being a leader is a privilege, not a right. I consider myself as being blessed by being placed in the position to be a Servant…

The most important area in gauging the viability and long term success of an organization is leadership. There are a few ways to describe leadership but it’s simply the process by which an individual influences a group of individuals to work toward a shared goal. A leader possesses the skills to influence the group and maximize the skill set of each individual within the group. The four factors of leadership are leader, follower, communication, and situation. It’s also important to note that there are several distinct styles of leadership. Each style has its own set of principles and process which are defined by certain traits possessed by leaders who fall into that particular style of leadership.…
