inspiration and the backbone of my education. I did not have the traits to be able to keep up with the same type of study ethic after she had gotten sick, I quickly fell into becoming a C student. I regret not living up to her wishes in middle and high school but I enrolled into college to make up for that and become successful. Statistically, someone with just a highschool diploma will make, six hundred and sixty-eight dollars a week, while, someone with just college education, no degree, makes seven hundred and forty-one a week.
This statistic increases to be seven hundred and ninety-two with an associate’s degree then one thousand one hundred and one dollars a week with a bachelor’s.(1) These statistics alone would’ve convinced me to go to college. Just by enrolling, I’ve already placed myself in a higher income region, based on statistical evidence, than I would’ve been had I not gone at all. Not just that, all the jobs I wish to have require some form of college education. To achieve the future and life I wish to have, college is the road I’ll need and will
take.
After the loss of my mom, I became very antisocial and ended up developing anxiety. I had friends but none nearly as intricate in my life as my family, specifically my dad. Being in a single income house, there were some rough times. I don’t want them to have to go through any of these issues again. So, as previously stated, college is ,statistically on average, the best choice for making more money. I intend to be able to give back to them in any way I can but one of the simplest ways is economically.
I wish to make sure my family is well off as I push to make myself successful in life. College opens up the possibility to achieve a lot of the things I wish to do and will make up for the lethargy I’ve shown in my education after my mom stopped being involved. The road has been difficult for me to get here but I intend to take advantage of the options I’ve been given, thanks to my family. Although, I’ve faced plenty of hardships in my life, I’m attending college to further myself and make my family proud.
