Stevie wonder is a very famous jazz/soul musician. He was born six weeks early on May thirteenth of nineteen-fifty. He had to spend his first fifty-two days of life in an incubator and because he was born early he had a problem with his eyes called Retinopathy of prematurity. While Wonder was in the incubator, the doctors accidentally gave him too much oxygen. After the incident it left him blind for the rest of his life. Young Stevie would now face life in an unusual way but he never gave up. As Stevie grew up, his teachers condemned him because he was black. One teacher said Stevie had three strikes on him. One because he was black, two because he was blind, and three because he was broke. Stevie started his career early and by the age of 10 Wonder had mastered singing by singing in his church choir. He had also mastered piano, harmonica and many more instruments which he learned on his own.
Wonder, now grown into a famous jazz and soul musician, won the Album of the Year Award at the Grammy’s three times. Once in 1975, again in 1976 and a third in 1978. Many fellow artists and bands have been inspired to make songs by his music. For example, Coolio wrote Gangsta Paradise using the background sounds from Stevie Wonders song Pastime Paradise. Many other artists were also inspired by Stevie. Some have learned how to make albums that flow together from Stevie. Most learned how to be bold in music and do not be afraid to change up your style or usual key signature. But, most importantly people have learned that people can still shape the future even if they have a wall in your way.
