More than 80 million people died in the war, and 39 million of theses deaths happened in Europe (The Effects of World War II on Economic and Health Outcomes across Europe). Since Europe was the cause of both World War One and Two, it was hard for any of the other countries to trust them.
The Soviet Union was also impacted hard by the war. The Soviet’s had lost about 27 million people. Over two/thirds of the people that died were civilians.
