The Gospel of Luke was thought to be written by Luke. The time of which he wrote it was uncertain but research shows anywhere from 70 to 80 A.D. it is believed that Luke wrote Luke and Acts to coincide with each other to show certain emphases that had yet to be made. The setting of Luke took place mainly in Jerusalem but traveled to Galilee. The reason for the Gospel of Luke was to show the birth, ministry, death, and the return of Jesus.
The Gospel of Luke starts off with the birth of John for his mother, Elizabeth, could not bore a child. His father, Zachariah, was a priest was chosen by a lot to enter the sanctuary of the Lord to off error incense. Gabriel came to say God will bless them with a child. Once Mary heard she went to the home of Elizabeth and Zachariah and once they had met, “ When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leaped in her womb. As his parents are returning, Jesus stayed behind. Once Joseph and Mary found out that Jesus wasn’t with him they went back to look for him. After three days they found him in a temple, sitting with and questioning teachers. Mary stated, “Child, why have you treated us like this? Look your father and I have been searching for you in great anxiety.” Jesus replied why were you searching for me? Did you not know I must be in my Father’s house?”. This was the beginning and him learning for his journey of ministry. As chapter two ends Luke made the statement,” And Jesus increased in wisdom and in years and in divine and human favor”. This means that he grew with knowledge of God and what he had to do to fulfill those who are cleaned and those who could be cleaned. Jesus knew what he had to his mission for his was filled with the Holy Spirit and he knew to let it control him for it was God
