In the 1900s most people were extremely ignorant about a lot of things, including the reproductive rights among the mentally challenged. Going as far as ignoring the fact that sterilizing the patients could patientially cause them to be unable to procreate.The law since then has changed but unfortunately people still are not fully onboard with the rights provided to mentally challenged people surrounding reproductive rights.The rights over this subject are still very much debated, however, I am completely for the reproductive rights for the mentally challenged. Most people do not realize the privilege it is to be able to make a decision that is life changing and not have to worry and have others determine whether or not you're mentally stable. The reproductive rights that mentally disabled people have is just like any other person's right and it gives them the opportunity to feel and be just like any regular person. Because that is what they are, and they by no circumstances are any less than anybody. The reproductive rights given to them add on to the fact that they are just like us. In conclusion the reproductive rights of mentally disabled individuals are very much needed and should not be put up for discussion. The right to conceive as well as being educated over intercourse should be kept and should be viewed as valuable to all mentally disabled people.
