Essay On Troop Leading Process
This semester we have learned about both operational processes and troop leading procedures. These two leading styles are used by a commander at every level to carry out some type of mission to reach a final goal. The troop leading procedure is a list of steps that can be used to clearly organize, prepare, and carry out the mission. Operational processes are a system in which the commander drives his support staff to plan, prepare, and execute the mission while he assesses and adapts to everything. Both of the models can be used in everyday life when trying to lead.
The operational process is a cycle in which the commander guides the planning, preparing and executing processes all while assessing them. Under the supervision of the commander, support staff accomplishes each of these tasks by communicating and working together. This alone requires a great deal of leadership abilities both on the commander’s level and that of the supporting staff. The planning portion of the operational process is the understanding of all outcomes of a situation and picking the best one while finding the most direct route to it. The execution portion of the cycle is the application of all the other processes to accomplish the task. While

Each one of the stages, such as initial movement requires an effective use of planning, preparing and executing steps while all constantly be assessed. Weather it is an actual mission, or training mission, these steps and processes can guide the commander and supporting units as a type of shell to make sure that the outcome is the same each

Mission Command evolved from years of defining tactical leadership. As its official reference defines it, “Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the commander’s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land operations”. This radical shift from centralized strict command to decentralized initiative evolved as a pragmatic result of the decentralized style of Wide Area Security operations our army has fought for 16 years. The six principles of Mission Command are: Build cohesive teams through mutual trust, create a shared understanding, provide a clear commander’s intent, exercise disciplined initiative, use mission…

Step 4 is to implement the controls. Leaders and staffs ensure that controls are integrated into Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), written and verbal orders, mission briefings, and the accountability of the unit and the Marines in the unit. The critical check, however, for this step, with oversight, is to ensure that controls are able to be converted into clear, simple orders that can be understood at all levels. Implementing controls includes coordination and communication with, Officers and Enlisted, each of the different units that are participating in the operation, any friendly forces that are in the operational zone, that includes our allies and the civilian police and lastly any civilian agencies that are part of the force. This includes The media, NGOs, and PVOs so that they will be included in…

Some of the steps we used in MCPP are also included in what we learned from our text in relation to Lewin’s Three-Step model and Kotter’s Eight-Step Plan for Implementing Change. The Commander change the status qou of the command and informed us to break away from being stuck in doing business as normal, the Commander ensured that we kept moving forward and not becoming stuck on a problem too long, and once we realized the way forward it became the new normal way of doing business which is in line with the Lewin’s Three Step model of unfreezing, movement and refreezing (Robbins & Judge, 2007, p. 625-626). The Commander also established a timeline in which he wanted the re-organization to be complete by coming up with a date to implement all changes, weekly update meetings to ensure we were on the intended path while at the same time allowing adjustments if needed. This is some of the steps displayed in the Kotter’s Eight Step plan as listed in our text (Robbins & Judge, 2007, p.…

The current course curriculum that is being taught to DTO-assigned officers is a heavy concentration of strategic-computer based systems. The DTO course covers in-depth TPFDD analysis, instillation deployment, mobility warrant officers’ roles and responsibilities, Single Mobility System (SMS), and completion of the JOPES Action Officer Course. The vast majority of this can be tracked by either the senior transportation non-commissioned officers or mobility warrant officer. DTO’s need to be able to convey the importance of this critical data to their respective commands, but it is more closely aligned with a deployment to a mature theater of operation. The U.S. Army is currently shifting its deployment focus towards an expeditionary mind set. Therefore, I feel that in a decisive action the emphases should be directed towards movement control.…

The Army’s Mission Command philosophy is a strategic cultural and intellectual shift in how to run the Army of the future. The Army is a large and complex organization founded in policies and procedures, derived from tradition and past success. Even though the army hasn’t realized the overall adoption of Mission Command, it is imperative to continue to lead the organizational change in pursuit of that vision since Mission Command provides the only known advantage in future complex environments because it promotes creativity and strategic thinking, fosters innovation and communication and empowers leaders at all levels. In order to achieve this change, the Army should strive to remove barriers to change, encourage praise and recognition…

“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” Ronald Reagan’s words provide me with a vision and the motivation to serve others by equipping them with the tools needed to reach their full potential. I have always worked hard as a leader to inspire others. I understand that I must be bold enough to have my own vision but humble enough to recognize achieving it will take the efforts of many people. I believe that we must work to together to keep America strong and ensure freedom for future generations, and I believe this is done through great leaders.
