Introduction
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, MRSA, is a common infection in a lot of hospitals, nursing homes, and among those with weak immune systems. MRSA infections are mostly non-life threatening but can be fatal if left untreated due to its resistance to antibiotics commonly used. Even a healthy person can be a “carrier” and not be infected. To aid in the prevention of MRSA infection, hands should be washed using soap and water or cleansed with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Wounds need to be covered with clean bandages. The first means to halt the succession was to place the infected individual on isolation with contact precautions. The main goal is to control and prevent the spread of the infection. (Barratt, 2011). As advocates for the isolation patient, this goal is significant for every nurse. The bedside nurse is challenged with numerous impediments due to the patient being on isolation, (Barratt, 2011), takes a look at the ethical consequences of isolating patients. The focus of Barratt’s study was to find out what hindrances could obstruct the components a nurse uses when taking care of isolation patients. It examined the understanding, awareness, and emotional effect that contact isolation caused for the patient. Electronic reading search of various educational records were used to gather informative pieces from 1990 to 2010, (Barratt, 2011) This research came from 20 different studies that included different methods of gathering the information such as conferences, surveys, incident reports, and mental assessments. The patients studied in Barratt (2011) came from extremely infectious isolation patients with MRSA. At the time of the study, there was not a lot of information to show the MRSA patient’s point of view so they also included other patients with different infectious diseases. Barratt (2011), studied information encompassing many example ranges, other countries, and other healthcare
