Ethnic Code Definition
1. There are two types of ethnic code that I, as a Speech Language Pathologist fall under. One type is ASHA (American Speech-Language-earing Association), the other type is TSHA (Texas Speech- Language-earing Association). Both are very easy to comprehend and understand, but out of the two ASHA (American Speech-Language-earing Association) is more comprehensive. American Speech-Language-earing Association is more comprehensive, because it is more of a straight to the point kind of ethnic code.
2. Any form of communication with the public about services, therapies, products, or publications. When someone says something about the professional of the client they must not be disrespectful to the company, they can announce and promote their business
in a good manner but other than that they can’t do it. 3. In my major we have telepractice and teletherapy. Telepractice are included in places like school, medical field, hospitals, health centers. If you hold your CCC’s you can’t give Telepractice and clinical services to anyone, but you may be able to give Telepractice consent while having the permission from state.
4. Anyone that disrespect their profession will be reported. You must have appropriate professional attitude and working business to be about to keep your job, and license
One thing I was surprised about while reading my code of ethics was how easily you can lose your license but doing certain things. Of course I know the rights and wrong but I never knew what the punishment was for any of it. The smallest things can cost you your license and your job but not one really seems to know what’s right or wrong to do with your clients much today
