Eudora Welty's The Thief-Personal Narrative
Suddenly, I caught sight of a figure running out of the shop like a bat out of hell and disappeared in a cloud of dust. A video games disk
Fell onto my hands out of a sudden.

The whole action happened really fast. I was so shocked that I just stood in the middle
Of the road and heard someone calling," Stop thief!" but I simply don’ get what's going on.
After recalling the scene, I knew abruptly that I was holding the booty of the thief!

I threw it on the floor violently and ran as fast as I can. The track blurred below me as I felt a surge of adrenaline. The steady thump of my footsteps echoed in my ears and beads of sweat rolled down my forehead. A police car chased me along the way and I felt exhausted than ever. After half an hour of

I let my weary body fall onto a piece of comfortable grassland. Surrounded by a huge crowd of park visitors, I knew I wouldn’t be noticed easily. “Just exculpate yourself if you got caught,” I thought. As I feel my consciousness ebbing away, and my thoughts, as clear and concise as they were mere moments ago, were coming to an end. My eyes grow heavy from the exhaustion, sending me into a shadow of darkness…

“Explain, Wendy, for what you have done! You are accused for……” The nightmare woke me up for the third time. I looked down at my watch showing 9:00a.m, wondering what was my family doing now. They must be extremely worried about me. I miss my home and I can’t let myself be wrongly accused forever. But…I was really afraid but still made my decision after thinking for a while.
I left the park and bought myself a breakfast using the money in my pocket. After the meal,
I felt much more energetic and headed towards the police station a few miles away. I took a deep breath and stepped in. I told a nice policeman called James about my issue and he showed great sympathy to me. It turned out that he was the crew captain and James checked the shop cctv. I finally won my innocence back and after doing several procedures, I went home merrily in deep thoughts, recalling my experience in the past two days. The next morning, the news headlines were: Arrested a thief from stealing a video game disk; wrongly accused kid won back her

Although most assume Death looks like the Grim Reaper or a scary skeleton thing, in The Book Thief, Death is not. In fact, he even tells us what he looks like when he says, “I do not carry a sickle or a scythe. I only wear a hooded black robe when it’s cold. And I don’t have those skull-like facial features you seem to enjoy pinning on me from a distance… Find yourself a mirror while I continue” (Zusak 307). Essentially Death is saying that because all humans die, we all resemble death. Humans can and will die, and thus he is one of the things that is constant between all humans. Due to this reason I drew a man looking into a mirror to show Death. I just…

Subconsciously, I knew nothing was wrong, and I had a feeling it had something to do with the money he owed me, yet letting myself push those thoughts out of my brain, I officially had become John’s victim. Not his first victim, though. Far from it. He was a skilled thief, a master manipulator, and without realizing, I had fallen into the center of his trickery. John opened the door just as I had entered his driveway.…

As a police detective, I see a lot of things ordinary men can’t even fathom—serial killers, rapists, drug lords—but nothing could have prepared me for the Dyer Street case. It started out like any other home invasion: a local woman went to bed with her family when all of a sudden she heard a scream coming from her son’s bedroom. When she entered the room she found her son on the floor, unresponsive.…

I awoke today with the light streaming into my room and hearing the birds chirping in the distance. As I regained my conscience, I smelled the mold and felt damp room conditions all around me that imprisoned me. It reminded me of what would have happened only in a nightmare. It was only yesterday that Corey, Nurse, Hale and I had gone to help the accused women. So many times I felt that I could win the battle, yet just as many times I could feel the rope slipping through my fingers.…

Ilsa Hermann is a minor character in The Book Thief. She is the wife of the mayor of Munich, and is suffering over the death of her son during World War II. Without Ilsa the book would be missing an important theme – the impacts of death. Ilsa is an interesting and significant character because she is unusual, she does not follow any stereotypes and it is through her that Markus Zusak conveys grief.…

Theft has been a major issue since the beginning of interactions among different groups of people. Starting from simple items like food, clothes, and other necessary products, the act of stealing evolved on a vicious scale. In no time, people began to linger for more valuable merchandise, leading to the capture of the ultimate prize, humans. With the support of many other works, this paper will show how robbery and theft has evolved into the monstrosity it is today, and will prove how larceny and abductions today are far more malicious than past acts of them.…
