I was surprised to learn just how big of an impact the arrival of Europeans had on Africa. And that their arrival was the biggest calamity that Africa would face. I knew of the slave trade of Africans to America but I didn’t know much more than the general knowledge that a lot of Africans were forced into it. I also didn’t realized that one of the reasons that they took Africans was because they were unwilling to bring their own European slaves. The fact that there were on to fifteen million slave brought to American truly blow my mind. And it was sad to think that it became normal and necessary to treat black people as less than human. But on the other hand they did bring education to Africa which had a huge benefit.
