In the beginning of his book, Jared Diamond explains a question that the New Guinea politician Yali, proposed to him. The question at large is “Why is it that you white people developed so much cargo and brought it to New Guinea, but we black people had little cargo of our own.”? Diamond explains that Yali’s question is (putting it mildly) asking how the whites (Europeans) developed more technology. Throughout Guns, Germs, and Steel Diamond is analyzing how and why the Europeans succeeded in developing more technology let alone more advanced technology. The book also explains why some civilizations were conquered by another and not vice versa. It also gives the three key reasons why, hence the name of the book Guns, Germs, and Steel .
I would say that Jared Diamond did prove his point that Europeans became more dominant due to geographical luck as well as more and better technology. By using very thorough examples along with various sources, Diamond validated his arguments. Throughout the book, Diamond broke down specific thoughts and points and explained them in detail. With the thought that was put into how he would do so, Diamond helped create background information and then built on top of that with the examples. After analyzing and explaining, Diamond summarized and revisited certain key points and topic. He transitioned into his next chapter or thought while being careful of not skipping ahead of himself. The way Diamond presented his information made it clear to understand and follow . Bias can be defined as either prejudiced or one sided. I would not say that the book is necessarily prejudiced but it can be one sided. One example is how Diamond explains in the early chapters of his book that geographic occurrences (that were completely random and chance), is a contributing factor or possibly a cause of development in human civilizations. Even though Diamond states
