Evidence Based Practice Reflection Paper

The scientist role was fulfilled in several courses looking at issues and finding a solution. The Evidence Based Practice Course I examined the issue of poor communication and the effects on patient care, proposed a solution example being implementation of bedside reporting and analyzed the results with the increase in patient satisfaction. The scientist role does just that finds a problem, looks for a solutions and examines the results, if the results are not positive or solve the problem the issues is reassessed and the experiment starts again until the problem or issue is resolved. The detective role was fulfilled during the Community and Population Health Course. I did my research or detective work of my community. Looking at the who,
what, when and why. My detective work was accomplished while going out into my community and trying to find the fix to the obesity epidemic. Resources and organizations were interviewed and observed and a plan was set into action to fix the issue in my community. The role of the manager of the healing environment to support healthy living and well-being. The registered nurse as a professional has a responsibility to prevent illness within ones community. My Community field project enabled me to help educate on the prevention of the obesity epidemic through education of proper nutrition and activity to promote the healthier lifestyle. Finding affordable resources through my interviews with community members and to educate lower income community members to promote the healing environment. The health care professionals must stay informed of the newest health related data, information, and healthcare policies so they can advocate for patients and educate the community on healthy lifestyles within the community.
