September 25, 2014 Dance Classes Have you ever taken dance? I have been in dance for twelve years. Three examples of my favorite dance classes are tap, ballet, and pointe. Dancing has been one of my favorite hobbies since I was five years old. One example of my favorite dance classes is tap class. The reason it is one of my favorites is because my dance class has high heel black shoes with metal taps on the heel and toe that make noise when touching a hard surface. In tap we mostly dance to songs with rhythm or something fast. Tap is very hard but also very fun. There are awesome costumes for this class. The costumes are usually very sharp. I love taking tap even if it is a little hard. One other example of my favorite dance class is ballet. In ballet, the shoes are little pink slippers. I had to have at least six years of ballet before moving up to pointe. Ballet dancing is usually performed to slow music or contemporary, which is my favorite because we do a lot of fast moves. The costumes for ballet are various. There could be simple dresses, tutus, or even some wild extreme costume. That is why I love ballet. Wheeler2 A third example of my favorite dance class is pointe. Pointe is my absolute favorite dance class ever. In pointe I wear shoes that have a toe box and ribbons, the toe box is where I stand on my tippy toes, and the ribbons support my ankles. In pointe I dance on my toes. It is very hard but amazing. Pointe is so graceful and it is really just all out fun. The costumes in pointe are tutus, or a dress. I have never had long pants in pointe, because it would

Dance has always been my passion. When I was undergoing some difficult problems in my life, I always turned back to dancing. For nine years I had been going to the same dance studio, Pointe & Plie, however, a couple of years ago the owner of the company had closed her dance studio and relocated to another city. I was devasted because I had grown to love the instructors and build a strong friendship with the girls there. After that I knew dance would never be the same.…

The Lost Thing is the story of a curious boy who discovers a gigantic, red, machine-like animal that appears to be lost. The boy pities this “lost thing” and therefore, decides that it is his personal responsibility to attempt to find out where this creature belongs. Shaun Tan wrote this book primarily to entertain and amuse his audience; however, he also included various controversial comments on the power of bureaucracy and various other social concerns. Although, the simple sentences and an even simplistic storyline suggest this book is set for the older primary aged children, however, the complex issues and concerns raised by the book allude to the fact that it can also be read by the adult audience.…

I have done ballet, modern dance, gymnastics, but nothing really stuck out. Well, until I started playing soccer. I started playing soccer when I was 7. Soon all of my friends were on the same team as me. My best friend at the time dad coached us. It was great! Until I was about 10 or 11. My knee started to hurt. I couldn't kick the ball without wincing. I knew something was wrong.…

I liked tap because you could make specific sounds and change the sounds and how the sounds could interact with the music if done right. I liked ballet because it seemed to be the basis of my childhood and it is the basis of dance. A year later my flexibility was falling short so I began to do an acro class, and because of how my schedule ended up I added a hip hop class because why not? Hip hop I liked just because it was something new. I liked finding things that were based on ballet and changed to the instructor's personality. I enjoyed acro because I was able to learn and perfect new tricks, and I could still work with other people because we did a routine. Unfortunately, that was the last year of doing a dance because people never showed up. I also was in a prepointe class, which was fun, but it was really more of just an extra ballet class, which made me happy anyways. The year after, I did not have a prepointe class, but I did have an extra harder tap class, which also made me…

One such danger is the use of weapons of mass destruction. Responding to terrorism falls primarily into the realm of federal law enforcement; however, major incidents will often require the use of multiple agencies from multiple jurisdictions. Ever since I was young I remember dance always being one of those things that was always there when I needed it. Everyday I looked forward to going to class and working hard, doing my best to get better everyday. I officially started dancing when I was three, however, it wasn’t until I got to the age of around 10 or 11. This was about a year after I moved to Kansas City and when I just started going to the Kansas City Ballet. The whole experience changed my point of view completely over not just dance but ballet to. I would definitely not be where I am today if it wasn’t for moving to KCB.…

Something that originally began as a form of worship has transformed into a celebration of the superficial and frivolous. Dancing often creates many concerns for young performers.…

"Jazz dance mirrors the social history of the American people, reflecting ethnic influences, historical events, and cultural changes" (Kraines, 2005,1). When I was younger I used to take dance. Countless forms of dance exist in the world. Jazz, ballet, and tap are the most common. When a person thinks of dance, they think of pink tights and tutus. Dance consists of so much more than that. Jazz, one of the most popular forms of dancing, usually consists of a more upbeat and fast tempo movement. The different types of jazz include: classic/stylized, lyrical, and street-funk. The classic/stylized form consists of regular clear lines (definite shapes of the body) and sharp (fast and precise) movements. These movements require quickness but also the ability to make them flow. Jazz works closely with musical theater. This is the kind you would see in a Broadway show like Chicago, a Las Vegas show, or in a TV show like “Fame”. Ballet represents the basis for all great dancers, because of its complex and difficult structure of movement. A recent study by medical researchers, of over sixty different athletic activities, ranked ballet second to only football in terms of physical, mental and environmental demands. This classical dance form demands grace and precision. The movement of ballet originates from turnout from the hip, the five positions of the feet, pointe (dance on top of toes), extensions (lines made by extending legs out), elevation (balance and height of jumps), and beats (fast actions of bringing legs together). Many describe it as elegant and refined.…
