Autobiographical essay
I was seven years old when I first met my mom and she had finally finished the legal papers that would allow my brothers and me to live in America with her. I have lived in Washington State for about ten years now. In all those years I have learned many things that I wouldn’t have been able to in the Philippines. I had help from many amazing teachers that wanted nothing more than to see me to succeed and reach my goals. I know that there will be many more that will contribute to guiding me to accomplish what I want. I am looking forward to meeting those people and being one of them as well. I hope that I will be capable of helping others as my past teachers have with me. When I am given opportunities I take advantage of them as much as possible and I appreciate everything that I have been given.
One of the most important lessons that I have learned is making the most out of the chances that are given to me because they will most likely benefit my future. The very first “big” opportunity that I had was when my mom took my brothers and me to stay with her in Washington. Ever since then I figured out very quickly that if I worked hard enough that I would have a better future. My mom taught me to …show more content…
take advantage of everything that will benefit my future. After learning this I have worked harder for all my goals in life. Hard work pays off in the end that’s exactly how I knew that I have learned the lesson. Every time that I have the opportunity I will do everything that I can in order to achieve that goal. Komogawa once said “Not everyone who works hard is rewarded, however all those who have succeeded have worked hard!” I will succeed through my hard work and the time I put into my goals.
Another pivotal lesson that I have learned is to appreciate everything that I have. My mom has taken care of my two older brothers and myself. She has done her best to give us what we have wanted and I appreciate what she does for all of us. I learned that everything that I wanted I needed to work for in order for me to attain. Not only did this woman give life to me but she has also worked hard in order for me to get a chance at this life. My mom showed me not to take what I had for granted. Nothing lasts forever; I make sure that I show my gratitude. William Makepeace Thackeray said, “Next to excellence is the appreciation of it.” I know that I’ve learned to recognize even the smallest things because like when I think of getting my lap top I remember the work I put into school for it and how it felt to acquire it. ‘
After graduating from high school I want to attend a four year college I will most likely be attending The University of Washington because of their medical departments and programs.
They have a variety of departments that I could apply to which gives me many opportunities to gain more knowledge. I know that I have to put all my time and effort to certain studies and at certain times. Although I am not sure yet what I want to become in my career but I know with time I will come to realize what it is that I enjoy and what I am good at. The one thing I know for sure is I want a career that puts me in the medical field. I enjoy helping people become better, healthier, and seeing them live happy
lives.
Three traits that I have that can benefit society are being responsible, persistent, and confident. I have many more traits but these three are the major traits that will benefit society the most. There is no doubt in my mind that being responsible can be of much benediction to the human public. Before I make any decisions I do my best to think them through to see if they are morally correct. Another trait that I have is persistence when I want to accomplish something I will keep on trying until I have achieved it. In the work environment persistence can assist a company to thrive and reach its “peak”. Confidence is also a very key trait that I have, being confident in what I do helps me perform and function better. Good quality work is what companies look for in employees and having confidence definitely helps with that.
I make the most of the openings that come my way and do not take anything for granted. There are countless amounts of people out there who could have become successful but did not arise and put their time and effort into the wrong things. They did not appreciate what others have gone through in order for them to get a chance to improve their lives substantially.
