The dimensions of conflict seen is interpersonal between nurse Trader and nurse James. The problem presented is the case is James appears uncomfortable with getting the mastectomy patient ready for surgery and nurse Trader has not effectively managed the situation. Conflict resolution to be used in this case is problem solving – nurse Trader could determine what is troubling James and they could find a workable solution for both of them. Nurse Trader could also try collaborating with James and they could work together to ready the patient for surgery. If these two methods are combined it could include nurse trader breaking the ice by accompanying James to the patient room if only to state, “Mrs. Jones, nurse James is here to prepare you for surgery”. This will show the patient that nurse Trader has confidence in James and will help James feel empowered and hopefully less intimidated by the task. To seek out a resolution, nurse Trader, as the leader, should use proper communication. In this case, effectively listening to James is key. There is an issue, yet, until nurse Trader asks and listens to James she cannot address this problem appropriately. She could also use persuasion as a means to demonstration to James that he has the
