Additional Indirect Cost Information and Example for Training Grants
If you are applying for a discretionary grant that the U.S. Department of Education considers to be a “Training grant,” your indirect cost reimbursement is limited. See the Education Department General Administration Regulations (EDGAR), 34 CFR 75.562, Indirect cost rates for educational training projects at:http://www.ed.gov/policy/fund/reg/edgarReg/edlite-part75e.html Indirect cost reimbursement on ED training grants is limited to the grantee’s actual indirect costs as determined by the grantee’s negotiated indirect cost rate agreement or 8% of a modified total direct cost base, whichever is less. Indirect costs in excess of the 8% limit may not be charged directly, used to satisfy matching or cost-sharing requirements, or charged to another Federal award. For the purposes of calculating indirect costs for training grants, EDGAR, §75.562(c), defines a modified total direct cost base as: “total direct costs less stipends, tuition and related fees, and capital expenditures of $5,000 or more.” Note: This limitation on indirect cost reimbursement for training grants does not apply to agencies of State or local governments, including federally recognized Indian tribal governments. However, the 8% limit applies to cost-type contracts under grants, if these contracts are for training as defined in EDGAR, §75.562(a). Below is a simplified example for calculating indirect costs for a training grant using the budget categories from the ED 524 form, Budget Information – Non-construction Programs. The ED 524 and Instructions can be found at: http://www.ed.gov/fund/grant/apply/appforms/appforms.html For the purposes of this example, 8% of a modified total direct cost base is used to calculate indirect costs. 1. moving the whole body part of the body very quickly in the shortest time. To improve speed, you would use interval training, this is when athlete endures a structured period of work followed by a structured period of lower intensity work. This common type of training improves speed as well as aerobic endurance. Interval training can be very helpful for athletes as they can choose their own intensity to run at, they could then steadily increase their intensity to improve their speed, this is called progressive overload. For an athlete to improve his speed it is important that the performer already has a good aerobic system. The intensity of interval training is a lot higher than continuous training because the periods of work are at a higher…

In the second learning exercise there is a problem with unhappy staff members on your unit. They are displeased with how requests for days off are being handled and they want changes to be made. On the committee you have formed there are four LVNs, three CNAs, and five RNs so all shifts are represented. Since all shifts are signified here I do not believe more members need to be added at this time. After three meetings and the committee getting no where this fourth meeting needs to serve a purpose in getting everyone to the end goal, which is making staff members satisfied with how days off are handled. There are definitely more task members in this group then there are team-building members. To me this is a problem because task members really…

Continuous training is when an athlete exercises in a steady aerobic way. It involves low intensity, long duration work without any rest time. So it's when you're exercising continuously. It's used to train for endurance events. Cycling at a slow speed for 30 minutes is one example of continuous training.…

"Classical conditioning, also called associative learning, is based on stimulus-response relationships. A stimulus is an object or situation that elicits a response by one of our sense organs, like how a bright light makes us blink. Associative learning allows us to associate two or more stimuli and change our response to one or more of them as a result of simultaneous experience." (Moore, 2002)…

The Cornell system is a systematic technique of note taking which is designed to efficiently organize and condense subject material. Notes are written only once which saves a great deal of time and allows more time for students to study rather than rewrite lecture notes. Pages are divided by a vertical margin, which is placed about 2.5 inches from the left side of the paper. This division is used to separate the right side which is used for note taking and the left side which is used to note key words or phrases. This column is referred to as the recall column. During a lecture, notes should be written legibly in paragraph form and should capture general ideas rather than illustrative ideas. The use of abbreviations is highly recommended to achieve the most efficient notes possible. After the lecture, the recall column is used to take down ideas or key words. This system of note taking can be a great way of studying and preparing for an examination.…

partially explain why the demonstrated increase in knowledge does not necessarily mean improvement in behaviour and symptoms. Both physiotherapy and industry assume that improved knowledge will result in a commensurate reduction in the rate or severity of injury. In the light of the available studies, this assumption is probably not justifiable, and certainly does not vindicate education as the only injury prevention strategy. The assumption that correct patient handling effectively prevents WMSDs is exemplified by the use of the adjective “proper” to describe lifting or patient handling techniques (Mierzejewski and Kumar 1997, Molumphy et al 1985). This supposition operates widely in the area of manual handling, where physiotherapists are…
