Examples Of A Specialised Animal Cell
An example of a specialised animal cell could be of a nerve cell. The nerve cell contains axons of motor and sensory neurons, which are in bundles of fascicles. They are surrounded by connective tissue which is the sheath of perineurium which ensures that the cells do not get damaged. This lso helps do that the function of the cell is carried out correctly (Nerve Anatomy or Structure (Expanded View), 2017). The function of a nerve cell is to emit impulses through electrical signals fromt the brain to the rest of the body. These signals occur along fibres that make up a nerve cell and emit them across the synapse between the neuron and the next neuron. These impulses can also be chemical which allow a reaction withing the body to take place.

Nervous impulses are electrical signals that travel along neurons. The electrical signals cannot travel from one neuron to the next directly. The signal crosses the gap, called a synapse, between cells in chemical form. One neuron releases chemicals in response to an action potential (nerve impulse). The chemicals travel across the synapse and stimulate an action potential in the next neuron. These chemicals are known as neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are stored in vesicles within a neuron and released through the…

P1 – Describe the microstructure of a typical animal cell and the functions of the main cell components. A typical animal cell is seen as a tiny, three dimensional sac which is in fact made up of many components, each as important as the other. The microstructure of an animal cell was in fact uncovered mainly through the use of both cell fractionation and electron microscopy. Each main component has its own, individual function which helps a cell to function and maintains the cell membrane. The components that I will be describing include the cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria, lysosomes, Golgi bodies, centrioles, endoplasmic reticulum (both smooth and rough) and ribosomes.…

The electrical impulse (the axon potential) reaches the end of an axon (the axon terminals), they stimulate the release of neurotransmitters. These are chemical messengers that carry a message from the sending neuron across a synapse to receptor sites on a receiving neuron. The sending neuron, in a process called reuptake, then normally reavsorbs the excess neurotransmitter molecules in the synaptic gap. If incoming signals are strong enough, the receiving neuron generates its own action potential and relays the message to other cells.…

2.) On a neuron, the dendtrites receive impulses from other neurons. This information is then passed down to the cell body and on to the axon. Once the information has arrived at the axon, it travels down the length of the axon in the form of an electrical signal known as an action potential. Neurotransmitters are needed to send the information from one neuron to the next. Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers that are released from the axon terminals to cross the synaptic gap and reach the receptor sites of other neurons.…
