Examples Of Functional Fixedness
Functional fixedness is when an individual only thinks of an item for its typical use or function, and they assume this item cannot be used for anything other than its intended use, this can result in people getting stuck when faced with a problem. One example of functional fixedness that I have faced in my own personal life happened when I was assembling a table. While assembling the table I realized that I had no screwdriver which I needed in order to finish assembling the table, but unfortunately I couldn’t find a screwdriver so I became stuck on the problem and couldn’t finish assembling the table.
In this experience I was affected by functional fixedness because I assumed that the only tool I could use to finish assembling my table was
