Examples Of Heroism In Those Winter Sundays

What does the term Heroic mean to you? To be heroic means to be brave, courageous, and selfless. In the short story “The Golden Lie” and in the poem “Those Winter Sundays” the characters show acts of heroism. In the text “The Golden Lie” a character by the name Triple G is considered to be heroic. For example in the story it states, “But my Triple G wasn’t just tough; he was downright heroic… he walked in the snow for days, going without food while cutting off pieces of his leather shoes to feed his starving companions. How he carried a sick child for miles. How when the party was being stalked by a mountain lion… Triple G tracked the cat and wrestled it with his bare hands…” (McCarry 25). Triple was a hero because of these outstanding achievements.
