Examples Of Institutional Discrimination

An example of institutional discrimination from the article ‘National academics: Defining discrimination’ is when a company gives requirements (i.e. taking a test, and having a diploma) in order to qualify for the job that typically doesn’t require it. This illustrates institutional discrimination because it’s a way of weeding out people of color since a big percentage of them dropped out of high school.

An example of Individual Discrimination is when someone shows their tattoo of a swastika to a Jewish person. This displays individual discrimination, because the person with the swastika is offending the Jewish person by showing their support for the German people that killed millions of Jewish people during the holocaust.
