Examples Of Media Bias
Imagine turning on the television to learn about a tragic event only to learn that another news station is reporting it differently. This is an example of media bias. News sources, whether it’s from TV. an online website, or a column in a popular magazine; they can all be bias. Media bias is when a media source chooses how to report a certain topic or story with each having their own individual point of view. News outlets are bias because they push beliefs or forced perspective to viewers. This causes stories to be twisted or untrue. Some networks are liberal. A liberal can be known as a communist where they believe all the people should have the equal pay. Those include Fox News, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC. Many of us people usually tend to go on these networks when we can't find information we are looking for. We also lean towards the network that covers certain stories in the way that favors what you believe. For Example, Fox news is a liberal news network which is “an ideological Strawman character who is used to bring the illusion of political balance in a narrative or discourse that is otherwise overwhelmingly slanted in the other direction” (Fox News Liberal). According to Quora, Fox news viewers tend to be conservative and so they focus their stories on the issues that are conservative (Quora). For instance, if they cover a story based on conservatives beliefs those who are left wing will follow up on that story on that particular network. Another example would be ABC, CBS and NBC. These stations tend to be more on the liberal side also. CNN unlike the other networks their audience are more liberal. So CNN covers more of the liberal stories so their viewers stay with them. MSNBC also favors liberal politics. Some other sources viewers go to can be newspapers. For example, The New york times and or other local newspapers.
