Examples Of Monologue From The Crucible '
Everything was okay! (screams, hands in hair) I remember when we would dance around here, the girls, Abigail and I. When the days passed by, weeks at a time. (spinning around, arms in the air) When we spent hour after hour laughing, singing, dancing. I miss it. I miss everything. The smiles on everyone's faces, the warm air filling our lungs. (breathes in and out deeply, raising arms) It was the only ‘voice’ (air quotes) we had most of the time and it often seemed like the only fun, us girls could have in a small town like Salem. But for a small moment the feeling of excitement and rejoice was filling our minds, taking over, letting our bodies run wild like a bird in the springtime. (runs on side of stage to the other) I miss being carefree. Mind blank, thoughts shut down, worries ceased. I didn't know how to feel. I don’t even know what I was feeling. Powerful yet weak. Ambitious yet fearful. Strong and carefree yet vulnerable… paralysed… controlled. For a matter of seconds, my life was perfect, (long pause, deep …show more content…
Around my neck. (wraps hands around neck) The townspeople, they are all going to come for me. THERE IS NO ESCAPE. (stands up, runs to one side of the stage and turns back, continues pacing) I cannot run. I cannot hide. They are going to come for me. The menacing stares running behind my every move. The voices preaching word of my sins to the world. The hands of all, waiting for the opportunity to pierce my flesh and watch the blood of my body pour out into a river of regret. (grabs onto chest as if being stabbed) But they will not do that. They know my regret is punishing me anyway, and no one except me would get punished for that. Desiring vengeance and fulfilling vengeance are two very different things. I am unsure whether to be glad about that or

The point of the crucible is to get rid of the substance that is inside the flask. This is saying that the society is trying to get rid of the witch rumors that are going on in Salem. In the play the judge is was trying to get rid of the problem by executing people that were considered witches.…

It was once said that, “The Crucible is essentially courage, weakness, and truth.” All three of these elements appear throughout the play. These elements are portrayed through the characters. In novella of The Crucible by Arthur Miller the implications can be inferred regarding the scapegoat phenomenon in America today in how we perceive people getting accused of things they are not doing. For instance Muslims are considered bad people only because they had a few terrorist people in their population. The key lessons from the period of time during The Crucible reflects how we could have learned differently. Several people were accused of witchcraft most times they had never practiced witchcraft before. “I saw Sarah Good with the Devil! I saw Goody Osburn with the Devil! I saw Bridget Bishop with the Devil!” (Miller 50). This quote is proving the reasoning against how the girls would accuse people of doing witchcraft.…

The play Crucible presented a unique example to what is portrayed in our class for expression of speech. With the same attributes, it surely does depict a professional manner of relaying information and conveying it to the audience without the action as one would display if they had no experience in speech. What I did notice in the play was the body language and speech pattern which I could recognize and judge thanks to what I learned in speech. To sum up their performance, I believe they did do a very good job. Only a few mistakes were present which were quickly corrected by the characters themselves.…

I was always so happy to that summer finally arrived. It meant that boring days in the classroom was soon to be over. No more listening to teachers trying to pound Darwin’s Theory into our heads or being quizzed over what is the difference between an obtuse and acute triangle. I remember counting down every last second for the bell to finally ring so we would be free to enjoy what summer was to bring. The ringing of the bell was a sign of late nights spent in town…

One day in November of 2009 a young girl was killed in a hit and run by a negligent driver. Her name was Courtney Snipes; she was only 11 years old. Courtney’s family suffered from tragedy much like the characters in Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible. These characters lost dozens of their neighbors all because of one group of girl’s ability to lie. Through Aristotle’s definition of what a tragedy in literature is; The Crucible can be easily defined as being a one with its tragic hero being portrayed through John Proctor, the feeling of catharsis, and the seriousness of the overall play.…
