Johnson grew up in Harlem and never hesitated to break the law if he thought it would profit him.
From committing many different crimes like burglaries, and thefts Johnson talents became noticed by Stephanie St. Clair. Clair was a mob boss who ran numerous criminal enterprises in Harlem, New York. Queen Clair made Johnson her right-hand man which caused more trouble for them both. He also met a notorious gangster name Dutch Schultz. Dutch had a bad reputation as well, and was known as the “beer baron”. From my perspective, a monster is defined by their actions. Johnson became a vicious killer, robber, extortionists, and all around weasel. From his actions, he became the King-Pin of Harlem crimes for over forty
years. Monsters are manipulators and know exactly what they are doing. Johnsons actions were very similar. He was known as a clever crook. Ellsworth knew how to remain in power, by playing the friend of the downtrodden for the news media, and always getting seen helping the less fortunate in his community. Johnson was very good at giving with one hand and taking away with the other. He referred to that as “Good Business”. Like most monsters seen on television that die at the end of movies, Johnson spent half of his life in prison. Johnson was even arrested more than 40 times, and continued with violence and heavy crimes. His actions were being reported in the celebrity people section of Jet magazine. After a while he gained a reputation as a man who wasn’t afraid to hurt people and seemed to enjoy it. In conclusion, monsters can perform horrendous acts on living things without remorse. Johnson spent most of his adult life hurting others and breaking the law. Most people in the world today know of him as being a bad person which makes him a monster in my opinion. He did any and everything he could to make sure his family and friends never suffered while hurting outsiders. Johnson made a big impact on the society we live in today, by making other people in the world follow his footsteps.
