Lonnie George Johnson: The Super Soaker Water Gun

Not most people knows his name but they might be familiar to one of his invention called the Super Soaker water gun , his name was Lonnie George Johnson , an African American inventor and engineer born in October 6 1949 , Mobile Alabama , who also holds more than 80 patent. During his early life he attended an all black high school called Williamson High School in Mobile , Alabama which during those time Alabama was segregated state but he still managed to represent his high school in the Alabama science fair and was the only African American student to attend and take first place during those times by presenting a compressed air powered robot. Later on attended Tuskegee University , an historically black university , on a math scholarship. Johnson earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering. After college he took a position at the Savannah River National Laboratory, conducting thermal analysis on plutonium fuel spheres later on worked in the U.S Air Force later on becoming an important member of the government scientific establishment. He was assigned to the Strategic Air Command, where he was helped develop the stealth bomber program.In the 1979 Johnson left his job to join NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory which is federally funded research and development center and a NASA
field center whose function is to construct and operate any planetary robotic spacecraft, though it also conducts Earth-orbit and astronomy missions. During his job in NASA working as a systems engineer for the Galileo mission to Jupiter and the Cassini mission to Saturn , even though Johnson job required a lot of time he still continued his hubby as an inventor. in 1982 he came up with the idea of the Super Soaker which is recreational water gun that utilizes manually-pressurized air to shoot water with greater power, range, and accuracy than conventional squirt pistols and he invention was sold in the market in the 1990.He teamed up with scientists from Tulane University and Tuskegee University to develop a method of transforming heat into electricity with the goal of making green energy less costly. In my opinion the hardest obstacle Johnson had to face and overcome is being an African American during those times because of the segregation movement , also being expected to fail every time you try to do a white man job as they used to called it.
All those hard work and studies paid of because he's is more successful than most Americans owning two technology-development companies named Excellatron Solid State, LLC and Johnson Electro-Mechanical Systems (JEMS). Lonnie George Johnson has a net worth of 360 million dollars and he's marry to Linda Moore ,an American businesswoman and political strategist , they also have four kids
