Lonnie George Johnson: The Super Soaker Water Gun
Not most people knows his name but they might be familiar to one of his invention called the Super Soaker water gun , his name was Lonnie George Johnson , an African American inventor and engineer born in October 6 1949 , Mobile Alabama , who also holds more than 80 patent. During his early life he attended an all black high school called Williamson High School in Mobile , Alabama which during those time Alabama was segregated state but he still managed to represent his high school in the Alabama science fair and was the only African American student to attend and take first place during those times by presenting a compressed air powered robot. Later on attended Tuskegee University , an historically black university , on a math scholarship. Johnson earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering. After college he took a position at the Savannah River National Laboratory, conducting thermal analysis on plutonium fuel spheres later on worked in the U.S Air Force later on becoming an important member of the government scientific establishment. He was assigned to the Strategic Air Command, where he was helped develop the stealth bomber program.In the 1979 Johnson left his job to join NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory which is federally funded research and development center and a NASA …show more content…
