My Own Declaration of Independence As children, our brains are very knowledge-hungry, we absorb the information we hear like a sponge. Once a seed is planted, an idea will grow so strong like a tree. Alike a strong tree, thoughts and ideas we have cannot be torn down easily, so when we hear that we cannot accomplish something; as humans we begin to have an frame of mind that prevents us from thriving and reaching our fullest potential. I am declaring myself independent from self-doubt. Evidently, our whole childhood, we are told we can do anything and be whomever we choose to be. But the people around us and the views that they have been conditioned to hold can help us or hurt us. Our mentors don’t just advise us to choose a “wiser” career choice, but order us to. It is understandable from a certain standpoint that our guardians and mentors only what the best for us and want the generation to be even more successful and frankly, be more wealthy than they are. While guidance and input is greatly appreciated and considered; I will not let your opinions about what I am passionate about infiltrate my desires and confidence within myself that I will be successful and happy with the path I create for myself.
Letting one walk blindly off a cliff of ambition isn’t helpful, but neither is telling someone to give up because they are incapable.
