The
theory of personal identity over time is between those who think personal identity is essentially a matter of psychological continuity and those who think it is essentially a matter of bodily continuity. Since the study of philosophical questions relating to personal identity it known to center itself to answer what makes it possible to persist over time and through changes. To prove that it does indeed look down at your fingerprints, now look that them 5 years from now, now 10 years they are the same. Overtime you will be the same induvial person, no one else can be you, but if fact you do change. Your physical makeup, your thoughts, dreams and even size consistently change until you die. Physically, an individual is completely different. Mentally, an individual will feel pretty much the same. Decades roll by and every molecule of your body changes many times over. Yet this person sense as being the same continuous, a unity. Relating to metaphysics, personal identity assist in an individual in answering questions about reality that lie beyond or behind those capable of being tackled by the methods of science. According to Aristotle, an individual person whose identity endures over time is a substance, and the human person can be placed within the problematic of the One and the Many. Unlike for John Locke, who believed it is composed of an unchanging mind rather than our corporeal or bodily nature. The theory of the Personal Identify is in fact problematic to determine if you do change or not over time.
Personally I believe that you do change over time physically and mentally. Like how can you not. If you can look back at photos of when you were a child and then look in the mirror. Do they really look the same? I like to think of this theory in two ways. Think of getting an x-ray you cannot tell the gender, religion, or color of the person but after you can identify them based off qualities gained over time. In a simpler perception I can see this theory being true ask a newborn what 2+2 is and then ask them in 5 years. The brain as well as the body is consistently changing sometimes for better or for worse. Yet to prove this to yourself you need to recognize that you created different, a certain way being forced to develop, adapt and survive this thing called life.
