Examples Of Perseverance In The Odyssey
In The Odyssey, Odysseus experiences many events that set him back from returning home. But throughout all of these experiences he never gives up. Perseverance is one of the many themes in the Odyssey. One example that shows perseverance is when his crew opened the bag of winds. Odysseus thought he was finally going to make it home but because of this magical bag of winds given to him by one of gods, then because of curiosity his crew opened it when he had said not to. This was yet another setback on his journey home, and he was angry but after this he did not just give up, and kept going to find a way back.
A second example that shows perseverance is when 6 of his men got eaten in the Cyclops’s cave. When this happens, instead of giving
up because he and his crew are scared he comes up with a plan to stab the Cyclops in the eye and escape by riding the bellies of sheep. In this part of the story this would be a perfect time for someone to freak out and give up, but Odysseus did not. These are two examples of one of many themes in The Odyssey.
