Though what goes on with the police may seem wrong you never know the other side of the story. Police brutality happens for many reasons, one reason is because many departments don’t provide adequate training in nonviolent solutions. Another reason is because standards for what constitutes brutality varies widely. For example for one officer objectively reasonable means if you don’t show me your license I get use soft hands, while in another town the same resistance means I can pull you through the car window or i can taser you. So the inconsistency throws people off or causes them to get hurt. …show more content…
An example of someone who is protesting about police brutality is Colin kaepernick.
He was the quarterback for the 49rs, he noticed the conflict and didnt turn a blind eye on it. In doing so he brought notice to the problem. Kaepernick took a risk for it, since he sat down for the anthem due to his beliefs. He had gotten so much heat that he decided to opt out of his contract for the 49rs. As it states, “In Aug. 2016, Colin Kaepernick sat on the bench while the national anthem played during a preseason game for the San Francisco 49ers……. Kaepernick told the media he chose to sit to protest the oppression of people of color in the United States and ongoing issues with police brutality.”

Lastly, the situation of police brutality has caused many people to lose their lives. According to surveys it states that “Overall, police shot and killed 978 people in the year long period that immediately followed Kaepernick’s first protest, according to the Post. Black Americans made up roughly 21 percent of the victims.” (www.huffingtonpost.com) Therefore the number of deaths are at a high and many people have brought this to attention. The police that fail to reason with their senses and to dial down on there excessive force don’t get into trouble most of the time. For example some police get put on paid leave which makes people outraged, while others serve a short sentence. Do you think police should get a different consequence?
To conclude police brutality is a problem going on and it sickens me to see it happen. Referring to my intro, People stand up for what they believe in, some more than others. It is always great to go the extra mile to do for others. What if it was your family? Or maybe even you? I hope I have brought police brutality to your attention. Stand up for what you believe in.
