Writing Skills/ APA format During the past two and half years at University of South Alabama, I took several writing courses. When I first started the Master program, I was very afraid because I always had a weakness of writing papers. I can honestly since starting the program and having understanding professors that gave perfect feedback, I am a little more confident in writing papers. Even though at times it still hard for me to gather information to write a paper. Prior to starting at USA, I have been out of school for seven years and couldn’t remember how to write in American Psychological Association (APA) style. APA has several rules that you have to follow in order for it to be correct. I feel that I have gotten a lot better with APA format, especially after the professors has taken off several points for different mistakes. I have learned from my mistakes during my time at USA.

I started using Pender’s Health Promotion theoretical guidelines for the different education that are provided to the patients in practice. I also use Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring when looking at the holistic view of the patient.
