When I hear the word sexist, 'feminism' and 'women's rights' are the words that come to mind. 'Prejudice or discrimination based on sex; especially: discrimination against women is the definition Merriam Webster dictionary states for Sexist. There are many discussions about the play "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare whether if it's sexist or not. This play is sexist for many reasons. One of them being we had to obey our husbands.
In the beginning I was confused why the play was named The Taming of the Shrew. Until I realized it was named that way because Petruchio was trying to 'tame' his wife Kate. He was trying to 'tame' her by saying things and forcing her to think he was right. Basically, trying to drive her crazy and
