1. What demographic variables were measured at least at the interval level of measurement? The length of labor in hours and the number of hours working per week, age, income, return to work.
2. What statistics were used to describe the length of labor in this study? Were these appropriate? The mean which would be the average of the length of labor (14.63), and the frequency that this occurred which is 30. Yes I think it was appropriate because it shows how the average hours a person was in labor for this group and the frequency.
3. What other statistic could have been used to describe the length of labor? Provide a rationale for your answer. Range could also be used to describe the length of labor since this statistic can be used on interval data with no natural zero point.
4. Were the distributions of scores similar for the experimental and control groups for the length of labor? Provide a rationale for your answer.Yes they were similar. The experimental group had a mean of 14.63 hours and the control group had a mean of 12.79 hours which is a difference of less than 2 hours with a SD of 7.78 for experimental and 7.2 for control
5. Were the experimental and control groups similar in their type of feeding? Provide a rationale for your answer. Yes they were similar. Breast feeding between the control group (41.7%) and experimental group (40.6%) a difference of 1.1%. Bottle feeding control group (50%) and experimental group (53.1%) a difference of 3.1%, and both breast and bottle control group was (5.6%) and experimental group was (6.3%) a difference of 0.7%.
6. What was the marital status mode for the subjects in the experimental and control groups? Provide both the frequency and percentage for the marital status mode for both groups. Married would be the mode for both the control and

Obesity epidemic has affected every part of the world. In addition, as of 2004, the proportion of obese adults in the U,S. reached 32% of the total population. Among adolescents, obesity has increased to 17.1% of the population between the 1999-2004 periods (Menifield 2008). This increase in prevalence has made obesity a threat to public health in United States. There are various reasons of obesity such as behavior, environment and genetic factors. One of the causes of obesity is energy imbalance. This means eating too many calories compared to physical activity. As we know that, nowadays people spend more time watching T.V and playing video games. Moreover food portion size has also increased not only at home but also in many restaurants. In addition, environment and behavior play a large role causing people to be overweight. People make decision base on their culture, values and beliefs. For example, in some culture it is not important for women to exercise or women are not allowed to go for a walk. Many community lack sidewalks, parks and public activity area and that may influence their activity level. Science indicates that genetics shows a role in obesity.
