Being in a positive work environment, having staff that strive for better patient outcomes, and being in a facility that always staff to collaborate freely with one another all make for a great work environment. Laschinger & Fida (2015) state that an important aspect of nurses’ satisfaction with their job and career has been linked to their ability to provide high-quality care to their clients. Meaning, if nurses aren’t content with their position, then patient care also declines. It is very important to me to find a job that believes in patient-centered care because I really do want to make a difference in patient’s lives. I knew nursing school would be the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but that was the point. To take care of someone and have their life in your hands is one of the most satisfying jobs out there. There will always be hoops to jump through, but as long as we remember why we wanted to become a nurse it’ll all be worth it.
