There are many different legislations which are involved in safeguarding. For example, the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act was created in response to the failures found in the bichard case and provided a new framework in regards to vetting people and the barring lost. This was done in order to stop people working with vulnerable people who may be a risk to them and to try stop abusers having access to vulnerable people. This act made many different changes e.g. one fo the most important changes is that all the different list of barred people e.g. POVA and POCA was abolished and combined so a new list was created. This is because the act improved the provisions for sexual offences and improve the measures available in order to protect people from harm due to sexual abuse. the act covers all sexual acts including rape, trafficking, prostitution and sexual assault and it also covers children offences such as child pornography and trafficking and abuse of position. In order to protect the public, the act improved communication with other countries so that notifications can be sent in regards to sexual offenders, including restraining orders and prevention order. The prevention order was made specifically for children and to protect them from harm.it Also created a register with convicted sex offenders so that the government are able to keep track of them and their whereabouts (monitor them) to try and prevent them from sexually harming anyone, which allows more protection for vulnerable people.
