Every presidency has ratings from the people across our nation. Now these ratings are sometimes very good, but they can also be very bad. It all depends on how the American public views the current president’s actions. After all the American people are the ones who helped our president get into office, we have the right to rate them on the job they’re doing.…

I decided to explore these opportunities as they provided an opportunity to work with children as I have an interest in becoming a teacher. My identified work opportunities will enhance the flourishing of myself as it will teach me to be more patient, communicate better, develop leadership skills and provide me with the chance to learn how to deal with different types of people. Moreover, these work opportunities provides a chance for me to improve public speaking which I struggle with, allow me to create networking, and gain teaching abilities. The gap in these work experiences are that although it provides me with an opportunity to work with children however, it includes working in small groups rather than an entire class of 25-35 students. A method to fill this gap can be that to work as a teacher assistant so it gives a preview of what the environment of teaching several students with one person, the teacher is charge is like.…
As a college student we have many choices for a career. I have always wanted to go into the medical field; not only because it is diverse, but because I love to help people. The three jobs in the medical field I am looking at are: Trauma Nurse, home health nurse, and a nurse anesthetist.…
To say that I dedicated numerous amounts of hours deciphering the purpose of why I’m going to college would be a lie. For years I have always thought that college is somewhere you just go after high school. I believed that it is only somewhere you go to start your career and in turn make a lot of money. In fact, this “purpose” is what has been institutionalized within U.S. citizens under this Capitalist system. We are told to go to college so we can get jobs where we can make money, buy a big house, start a family, and live the lifestyles we have always dreamed of. For a very long time this was my only goal in life: to go to college so I can get a well-paying job to afford the lifestyle that I want to live. I never put much thought into what…
At some point in the process of choosing a college, you may have to choose a college major, or at the very least begin to narrow your options. While being undecided for awhile is fine, you probably want to have some idea of what you want to do when you start the college application process. You want to make sure you make the right college choice, and there’s nothing worse than finding your dream school only to realize it doesn’t offer the major you’ve ultimately chosen. Even though you know you can’t put it off forever, choosing your major can be tough.…

For myself choosing a major was a thought I was unsure of. When I was a junior in High School teachers, classmates and family would constantly ask “what is your major in college going to be?” my answer for a long time was ‘I have some time to think about it, I’m torn between a couple majors, or I might even take a semester off to think about it”, however I had no clue. Because I wasn’t sure I figured applying to any UC’s and CSU’s would be waste of time, I didn’t want to rush and pick something because I had to, so I decided my best option was to attend COM and really explore my options. A year later, after two semesters at COM I found myself still trying to figure out my major. I was unsure for a long time, it wasn’t until the day my older sister went into labor with my nephew that her nurse made me realize what she did for my sister was something I wanted to do for women everyday. What I experienced in the labor room the day of my nephews birth forever changed my life. Helping my sister through her labor was meaningful to me because it made me realize how calm I could stay during a stressful time, her work ethic, and realizing I wanted to go into nursing.…
While most people may focus on the academic side of a scholar, I feel there should be a much broader definition. I would define a scholar as an individual that is dedicated to their education, uses their God-given talents for the benefit of others, and pushes themself in all of their endeavors whether it is spiritual, physical, or mental. This would promote a much more well-rounded person. Placing more emphasis on an individual’s drive, ethics, and integrity in addition to their grades or test scores is important to being a scholar. I feel that this would promote utilizing what is being learned rather than simply taking a test over the material and forgetting it.…
In “Not All College Majors Are Created Equal,” Michelle Singletary tells the reader that people go to college with their majors in mind but don’t have a clue about what actual jobs are available to them according to their education and on the job training level if any. She says students spend 4 to 6 years just studying for a certain major and not knowing what job would even accept the degree, and resulting in students having huge amounts of loan for a degree that never helped. Singletary also explains how a college education is not necessarily investing in a student’s future if they’re taking out huge loans or not finding out which fields are creating good paying jobs now. I do agree with what Michelle Singletary says about how some students waste their time and money on college. I also agree that college is worth attending, but only if you’re not left with uncertainty.…
