When putting together a support/care package it should be carefully planned and designed to make sure that the service is exactly right for each individual it is aimed at. This is vital not just because it is a right that everyone is entitled to but because a person’s health and wellbeing reacts to emotional factors as well as physical ones and they will if the service they receive is centred around their own needs and in ways they choose.…

Active support includes involving the service users into supporting staff to plan fr the care that they require on a day to day basis meaning that they are involved in decisions being made about them. Person-centred care is the key to active support as each individual is thought of in a holistic way regardless of their past, holistic needs, physical needs and their families are always considered. Principles of the care value base everyone has rights because of the discrimination laws and the human rights act. These rights give individuals to the freedom of expression of thought and to have a private life, protection and safety from torture, slavery, abuse, unfair treatment, dignity, access information about themselves and to be able to use a preferred method of communication and language. Health and care workers have many responsibilities to make sure that they take good care and the right care values for their patients and service users. They need to be polite, caring, considerable and patient with them. Each patient and service user has a different need, want, preferences and expectations, they need to be able to recognise this. They also should be able to recognise what the user or patient is able to do, and should always encourage them to make choices in their lives so they are still in control of themselves so they will feel good. This not only makes the user/patient feel good about them but also helps support the service user's rights to be cared in the way they need to be. Care workers have to give the users privacy in order to make sure the patient’s rights are fullfied, not only does this help with the patient’s right but it also builds trust between the work and user. Health and care workers have to use the care value base in their work as it is one of their main responsibilities, each care value base as different for each job, however this will be explained to the employee in their job description, work policy, procedures and some mission statements. There are many principles of the care value base, below are the principles: * confidentially, an example of this is when a care worker discusses information with another care worker; this is not following the care base principles. It is very important a care worker keeps confidentially with the user in order to gain trust, safety and legal requirements. * Discrimination, the service user might not be…

    Supportive Relationships

In this part of the assignment I will be discussing the extent to which supportive relationships with adults can reduce the risk of abuse and neglect, making references to the case studies of Carla, Denzil and Rafeyia, detailing how such relationships would reduce the risk of abuse for them in particular. A supportive relationship involves the, care and support from those around you such as friends, family and care workers. Supportive relationships affect our health and well-being in a very positive way, having the support from people around us gives us confidence and makes us feel better about ourselves.it also means that we build trust in people to help look after us, and when something goes wrong we feel we can report it to someone close to us, who can then go on to resolve the situation. If you are a new care worker it may be difficult for you to create any kind of relationship with a client or service user, but you have to consider both the nature of yourself, and the individual you are supporting’s role. Being a vulnerable adult leads you susceptible to many forms of abuse and/or neglect, and because of the very nature of what is happening they have no idea how to respond to the abuse – they find it easier to let it continue, than fight it off. This vulnerable person needs to know there is somebody there who is willing to support them as not only does it help them to feel less alone, but it can help minimise the risk of abuse to them in the future, and being involved in care work is all about taking up that role. Carla has to rely on somebody else to help her get washed, dressed, cook a meal and get ready for bed. When people are no longer able to be in dependent like Carla, it tends to be an open invitation for some people to abuse them, and this is what she experienced through her neighbour. It is important to note that just because Carla needs help in looking after herself they do not lose any of their rights.…
